The short version
Wave is a free, in-browser video converter. You are welcome to use it for personal or commercial purposes. Do not use it for anything illegal in your jurisdiction. The site is provided as-is, with no guarantees; if a conversion fails, we owe you nothing beyond an apology.
Free to use
Wave charges nothing to convert a file, sets no per-file limits, and requires no account. If you find the tool useful, telling a friend or linking to it from your own site is the best support we can ask for.
Acceptable use
Do not use Wave to process content you do not have the right to convert (copyrighted material you don't own or have a licence to, content that is illegal to possess in your jurisdiction, or material intended to identify or harm a specific person without consent). Wave has no way to inspect the content of your files, since conversions run in your browser, so this responsibility is entirely yours.
Attempted abuse of the site
The following are not welcome and may be blocked at the Cloudflare layer: automated scraping of the site, attempts to overwhelm the hosting infrastructure, attempts to bypass Wave's file-size or format-detection safeguards to run arbitrary code, and any use that violates Cloudflare's own terms.
No warranty
Wave is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the site will be available at all times, that a specific file will convert successfully, that a converted file will play back on a specific device, or that the site will be free of bugs. Video conversion is a complex space and edge cases exist that we haven't seen.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Wave and its maintainers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. This includes but is not limited to lost time, lost data, corrupted output files, or missed opportunities. If Wave fails to convert a file you care about, please keep the source until you've verified the output.
The engine and its licensing
Wave uses FFmpeg as its conversion engine, compiled to WebAssembly and bundled without GPL encoders so the distribution is LGPL-clean. Full attribution and licence text for every third-party component is in the site's THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site evolves. Substantive changes will be dated on this page; continuing to use the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
