Convert WEBM to MP3 - extract audio

What actually changes
WEBM audio is nearly always Opus. Opus is technically legal inside an MP4 but plays inconsistently, and it doesn't play at all in most consumer MP3 players, car stereos, or older phones. MP3 remains the safe universal audio choice, so extraction runs through the LAME encoder at 192 kbps.
Opus is a modern codec, so decoding is quick. Since Wave doesn't need to touch the video track at all, WEBM audio extract typically runs faster than the video conversion path.

Why not just save the Opus?
You can't inside an MP3 file - that's a codec-container mismatch. And most players people actually use don't support Opus. MP3 is the universal fallback.
Does Opus-to-MP3 lose quality?
Every lossy-to-lossy transcode loses a small amount. At 192 kbps MP3, the loss is imperceptible to most listeners on most content.
Can I save the audio as AAC or Opus instead?
No - Wave outputs MP3 only for audio. It's the one format that plays anywhere without a compatibility conversation. If your target really needs AAC, run the MP3 through a dedicated audio tool.
Are YouTube WEBM downloads supported?
Wave doesn't download from YouTube. If you have the .webm file already, this converts it.
How do I know if my WEBM audio is Opus or Vorbis?
